IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norita
Murphy
June 2, 1947 – September 20, 2024
Nora "Norita" Granthon Murphy passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, while bravely battling cancer for many years.
Norita was born June 2, 1947, in Lima, Peru. Daughter of parents, Oscar Reynaldo Granthon Cardona (1914-2012) and Lila Stagnaro Palacios DeGranthon (1917-2011). Norita lived in Lima until earning her bachelor's degree in interior design in Lima. Marrying in 1979, Navy orders moved them to Patuxent River, MD where they gave birth to their first and only child, Kimberly. Shortly after, final orders were to Pensacola, FL. After 5 years, they both agreed to take separate paths while keeping Kimberly's best interests their priority. Norita was able to use her prior experience and started working at Rhodes Furniture in 1986, (which later became Rooms To Go) where she accomplished 30+ years of a career filled with passion, grit, determination, achievements and success. Even though Norita worked hard and long hours, she made it a priority for her and Kimberly to not miss out on what life has to offer outside of work and enjoy the things she loved. She loved visiting her family and friends in Peru as much as possible. Traveling all over the world, enjoying different cultures and food and was always ready to dance the night away into the wee hours when any Latin music came on. NORITA WAS THE PARTY!! She always lit up a room wherever she went. She cherished her friends and the friendships she made throughout the years by attending get togethers, dinners, celebrations, holiday parties and phone calls. She was an amazing, nurturing and encouraging mother. I believe the title that she was most proud of was "MiMi". She would light up when she talked, spent time or played with her grandchildren. They were and still are her whole world. She was always there when we needed her offering support, wisdom, love in abundance and always adding the finishing touches on ALL THINGS. Though you are gone, the love you gave us remains a beautiful reminder of your presence in our lives. We are forever grateful for the life you shared with us and your guidance will continue to light our way. Let us all rejoice in your Homecoming in Heaven.
She is survived by her brother, Oscar "Rolo" Rolando Granthon Stagnaro of Lima, Peru; her loving daughter, Kimberly Murphy Lawrence (Danny); as well as her granddaughters, Leighla Nevaeh (11) and Alanna Raine (10) all of Pensacola, FL.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm Thursday, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. At a later date to be determined, the family will be holding a private Memorial Mass.
