Obituary

Olivia “Jimmerson” Fuqua, age 75, of Pensacola, FL was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Olivia was born in Eufaula, Alabama, to Alter Britt and Martha Olivia Taylor Jimmerson, Sr. in 1950. She moved to Auburn, Alabama (War Eagle!) and then to Pensacola (with a short time in Pompano Beach, where she graduated high school). She loved her childhood and enjoyed her teenage years in Gulf Breeze, hanging out at the beach and listening to her father play his trumpet and sing. She loved traveling to New Orleans. She talked of a carefree childhood where everyone knew everyone else, and she always felt safe and loved.

Olivia’s goal in life was to have a family. She attended Pensacola Junior College for a few Home Ec classes before getting married and starting that family. She truly liked being a mom. She preferred being in the kitchen over being anywhere else. When we were kids, we would have international themed dinners once a month. We all loved to draw the folded-up paper from the bowl to see which country was next. She was known for her cream cheese pound cakes, her decorated Christmas cookies and her crafts. We drove around singing Christmas carols and looking at Christmas lights every year. We played Monopoly (to the days long, bitter end!) She drove us all to every single extra-curricular and school function we could find, and then some. She made up jingles to help with facts we couldn’t remember for school. She would write notes on our lunch bags with rhymes. When the grandkids had tummy aches at school, she would check them out and proceed straight to McDonalds to get them burgers and fries as a treat for them feeling bad.

Olivia’s heart was so big and bursting with love, she couldn’t ever say “no” to anyone. And once you were part of the family or the crew of friends that came along with us all, she would treat you the same. She would say “just toss ‘em in with the rest of ‘em.”

Olivia loved hard and fought harder for over 40 years! As Jordan says, “she fought so hard and so long for all the kids she loved and even the ones she just picked up along the way”. She had cancer after cancer and then open-heart surgery. She always made us laugh even when she was miserable. We named the IV pole George when walking through the halls as she fought her first breast cancer. She was so proud of her “piggie” heart valve and encouraged it to behave when her AFIB came back after her heart surgery. She was still fighting this last cancer even to the last breath. She didn’t know how not to fight for us all.

We are so happy to know in our hearts that Delores was waiting for her, and they are already out getting into trouble in heaven, but we will miss her here with us dearly. We will miss the laughs and the love. We will miss the cakes, cookies, games and crafts. We will just miss her on the other end of the phone when we call (she ALWAYS answered!). We will miss our mom. We will miss our Grammy. We will miss our sister.

We love you! Funny Face!!!

Olivia is preceded in death by her father, Britt Jimmerson, who hung the moon in her eyes and whose memory she carried lovingly in her heart the rest of her life; her sister, Donya Jimmerson Nelson, who she loved unconditionally, through laughter and tears and she missed so deeply after her passing; and her favorite partner in crime, Delores Seaman, who was always there for her through good times and bad. Olivia lost a part of her heart when Delores passed.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Margie DiLoreto (Scott), and their children, J, Ali and Alex (the A-Team), Cam, Macey and Emery; her son, Robert Fuqua (Robin) and their children, Christopher (Julianna), Meghan (Benjamin), Caleb and Maurice and their grandchildren, (Olivia’s great grandchildren), Jameson, Alexandra and Evelyn; daughter, Carol Fuqua, and Carol’s children, Lauren (Greg) and Judson and her grandchildren, (Olivia’s great grandchildren) Charlotte and Silas; daughter, Jordan Fuqua (Dominic) and their children, (Olivia’s great grandchildren) Azalea, Iris and Donald; son, Nathan Fuqua; her Mother, Martha Jimmerson; sister, Deb Dillinger (Alan); brother, Britt Jimmerson Jr.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Katherine Price, Ascension Perdido, for the loving, kindness shown to our mom all these years. Thanks to Gentiva Hospice (Heather, Jasmine, Audrey and Doug especially). Thank you for not only taking care of our mom in the last few days but also emotionally supporting us too. Thank you for the kind pats on the back and for the hugs. Thank you for being gentle with mom and making sure everything we needed was taken care of before we even knew we needed it. Thank you to Derek, Natalie and Bonnie at First City Drugs for keeping track of all mom’s medications over these complicated last few years. And thank you to Ascension Home Health (Alison, Heleen and Steve) for their commitment to mom with her therapy.
