Ortra Mae Nettles, 98, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Mrs. Nettles was born March 7, 1917 in Atmore, AL to Robert Yeldell Seale and Carrie Solomon Seale and lived in Pensacola most of her life where she was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Nettles, Sr. and is survived by five children; William Nettles, Jr. of Mount Pleasant, SC, Terry Nettles (Cheryl) of Lillian, AL, Bobby Joe Nettles (Latrelle) of Monroeville, AL, Patricia Alexander (Deek) of Rock Hill, SC and Peggy Blalock (John) of Lillian, AL. She leaves thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Nettles retired after many years as a Buyer and Department Manager for Gayfer's Department Store. She loved gardening and was Past-President of the Amaryllis Garden Club of Pensacola. For many years Ortra and William Earl enjoyed traveling across the country with the Holiday Ramblers RV Club. Visitation will be held 2:00pm until the Funeral Service to begin at 3:00pm Friday, March 20, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dot Killough, a wonderful friend and caring and giving neighbor.
