Obituary

Page Brown Lee, 81, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully at home in the company of her family on Friday, November 18, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Pensacola in 1941 to Hugh Kennon Brown and Calpurnia Sublette Brown, Page graduated from Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington, D.C. in 1959, attended the University of Florida, and later received her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of West Florida in 1981. After graduation, Page worked as a computer programmer, a Certified Webmaster, and she developed one of the country's first online learning platforms for Florida State University in 1997.

Except for her time at school in Washington D.C. and Gainesville, Page was a lifelong resident of Pensacola. She was an enthusiast of Pensacola history and genealogy – her inspiration arising from being a member of one of Pensacola's oldest families, dating back to the Battle of Pensacola in 1781. Among her many community service projects, Page was particularly dedicated to her work as a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Michael's Cemetery Foundation, where she worked in connection with the University of West Florida to map the thousands of marked and unmarked graves in the cemetery.

Page is lovingly, but accurately, described by those who knew her as being unforgivingly stubborn and inflexible in all aspects of her life. In 2016, she was given only six months to live after an unsuccessful surgery and chemotherapy to treat her lung cancer. Having life left to live and grandchildren's events left to witness, Page went on to travel the country with her husband in their motorhome to witness her grandchildren have four first communions, two college graduations, one Navy winging ceremony, innumerable sporting events, as well as sharing in six Christmas and six Thanksgiving celebrations with her children and grandchildren in spite of her prognosis. Although she reluctantly allowed others to take over her decades-long volunteer duties at St. Michael's Catholic Church as head of the offertory counting team, Sodality member, coffee hour hostess, tour guide, church guardian, Renovation Committee member, 130 th Anniversary Committee member, and volunteer director of information technology, Page continued to manage the church website and edit the weekly bulletin until the very end of her life.

She is the beloved wife of 57 years to James Lee; mother to, Cynthia (David) Busbee of Greenville, SC and Gary (Laura) Lee of Birmingham, AL; and grandmother to, Andrew Grant, Tyler Grant, Piper Lee, Henry Lee, Rosemary Lee, and Penelope Lee.

A Funeral Mass will be held 9:00am Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. Immediately following will be a Rite of Committal and burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, and a reception at the St. Michael's Parish Hall.
