Patrick "Pat" Terrance Hope, 72, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 following a short illness.
Pat was born in Croydon, England to Edward Lyle Hope and Joan Katherine Hope on May 4, 1947. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Peekskill, NY. The family lived in New York and California before settling in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Pat Graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School in 1965 and set his sights on the University of Florida where he would earn his Bachelor of Architecture (with honors) plus a Master of Building Construction in August 1974. While enrolled in college Pat Served 6 years in the US Army Reserve Military Police and was honorably discharged in May 1973.
Pat was a Registered Architect and Certified General Contractor with The State of Florida.
He practiced his craft domestically in Florida and Arizona and overseas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Afghanistan. He ran his own architectural firm, "Architect Patrick T. Hope", and his construction firm, Hope Construction, Inc. in Pensacola, FL. (His architectural firm specialized in the design of commercial & high-rise office buildings, hospitality buildings, large industrial buildings, multi-family high-rise buildings, and the occasional custom residence.)
Feeling the call of patriotic duty Pat served in Iraq in the Army Corps of Engineers from 2004 to 2008, where he oversaw contracts for construction of schools, police stations, border posts and numerous other public sector construction and infrastructure projects. (During this time, he went through the Battle of Mosul in Nov 2004.) From 2009-2014 Pat worked in Afghanistan, where he designed multiple government facilities, including buildings for the Ministry of Interior and Criminal Investigative Department. While serving in the Middle East Pat received several awards including Meritorious Civilian Service Award (General David H. Petraeus), Commander's Award for Civilian Service, (US Army), Civilian Service in a Combat Zone (US Army).
Pat believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He loved Jesus with all his heart. He was a devoted husband and father who maintained integrity and class throughout his life. He attended Brownsville Assembly of God church, where he served as both an usher and prayer team member. Pat had a passion for architecture and building design and "always did it right". Pat loved the United States of America and was a patriot to the core. Pat also admired classic cars, especially 60's era Corvettes and Mustangs.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Lyle Hope and his brother, Roger Lee Hope.
Pat is survived by his wife, Patrice Hope of Pensacola; son, Ryan Lee Hope of Gainesville; son, Matthew Lee Hope of Pensacola; two grandchildren, Apollo and Cruz Hope; mother, Joan Katherine Hope (Edward) of Gulf Breeze; sister, Carol Hope Kemp (David) of Gulf Breeze; brother, William Lynds Hope of Ft. Lauderdale; sister, Christine Dianne Hope of Pensacola; sister, Katherine Jeanne Tedder (David) of Milton; brother, Glenn Peter Hope (Francine) of College Park, GA; brother, Mark Edward Hope of Pensacola.
