Patricia Law Jones, 84, died on Monday, February 2, 2015 in Gulf Breeze, FL. Patricia Margaret Law was born on June 8, 1930 in Kingston, NY to Francis Howard and Irene McCloskey Law. She was a 1947 graduate of Kingston High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Communication in 1951 from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. Patricia taught the fourth grade in Gilboa, NY before marrying Paul Kingsbury Jones (USAF) in 1952. Together they raised four children while stationed in New York, Japan, Arizona and California. They settled in Pensacola in 1966. Pat Jones was a passionate, tireless and devoted community activist and advocate for the Civil Rights Movement and the Women's Rights Movement. She served as Executive Director of the Community Action Program, President of the Pensacola YWCA, Chairperson of the Pensacola-Escambia Human Rights Commission and Secretary of the Escambia County Democratic Executive Committee. Pat was also a key organizer in the YWCA Rape Crisis Center and Favor House of Pensacola. She was an active member and held leadership positions in the National Organization for Women, the International Women's Year and Conference, the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters. Pat Jones fought valiantly and courageously for the Equal Rights Amendment, for women's health, welfare and education and for the eradication of poverty. Patricia is survived by her children. Antonia Jones (Douglas Fukushima) of Annapolis, MD, Meghan Jones of Milton, FL, Timothy Jones of North Hollywood, CA and Kristin Jones of North Hollywood, CA. Patricia is also survived by her only grandchild, Patrick Gallagher of Milton, FL, and her youngest sister, Sheila Bazarian (James McCutheon) of Troy, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jones and her sister, Irene DiMuccio. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30am Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral services and interment will be private.
