Obituary

Patricianne A. Senkow, 79, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully on to immortality after a long illness on December 18, 2021, at 5:50 PM while in the passionate care of the Covenant Care Hospice Center located in the West Florida Hospital.

Known locally and affectionately as "Miss Pat, the Food Lady", Pat was a compassionate, caring person who did not hesitate to help any and all that came in contact with her. She was a great organizer, tireless worker, and a devoted wife.

Pat began her long active productive life on December 30, 1941 in Holland, Michigan where she was born to Mr. and Mrs. John F. Pelon. After high school she attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan Majoring in Music, Rutgers University Majoring in Math and Music and Kalamazoo Valley Junior College Majoring in Accounting/Business Law.

In 1992, she and her husband Walt moved from Michigan to Pensacola where she began a long career as an Organist for All Saints Anglican Church until her retirement in 2020 due to illness. In addition, at various times she played piano at St. Luke UMC, St. Mark UMC, and beginning in 2008 and for several years afterward she also played the piano at the Saturday evening services at Grace Lutheran Church.

In addition to her music, she worked as a Skills Trainer for the Center for Independent Living for two years. In 1995, she began as Regional Site Manager for FoodShare, a non-profit agency that provided low-cost nutritious food for local families. Between 1997 and 2016 she managed three other food programs, managed the Bay Area Food Bank, managed Agency Relations for Second Harvest and in 2006, founded the It's a Blessing Food Program that continued until she retired in January, 2017. Pat's accomplishments were recognized by The Northwest Unit of the National Association of Social Workers who honored her as Citizen of the Year 1998. She also served as Chairperson of the Advisory Council for the Northwest Florida Area on Aging until her passing.

Pat is preceded in the passing of her mother, Elizabeth Anne Pelon and her father, John Frederick Pelon.

Pat is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Walter Senkow; her daughter, Dr. Robin Sue Sakamoto; her son, John Hudson Alexander, Jr.; her step-daughter, Dana Lorian; step-son, Darek Lowen Senkow; grandchildren, Junna Sakamoto, Reina Sakamoto, Kei Sakamoto, Jack Alexander, III, William Alexander, Genevieve Senkow, Lowen Senkow; her great grandchildren, Meishi, Shuto, and Ray; her two sisters, Nancy Piet and Molly Bohlen.

Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church. For those who wish, a YouTube Livestream will be made available at Grace Lutheran Church's website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the following charities: Little City, 1760 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL 60067; St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at West Florida Hospital and to the staff at Covenant Hospice Care Center for the kind, loving care that they provided to Pat during her last days with us.
