Patrick Byrne passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at age 79.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Bessie Hall Byrne; his brothers, Charles and George T. Byrne, Jr.; his sister, Mazie Byrne Still and his daughter-in-law, Melanie Lewis Byrne.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Griffin Byrne; his sons, Patrick Byrne, Jr. (Tracie) and Mark Byrne; his daughter, Hollye Byrne Roblyer (Mike); a sister, Cornelia Bender and his grandchildren, Michael Roblyer, Jr., Katie Roblyer, Bailey Byrne, Mallory Byrne and Madelyn Byrne.

Pat was born on August 23, 1936 in Bay Minette, AL where he grew up. He graduated from Auburn University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha and earned an engineering degree. He was a licensed professional engineer and had a career in research and development with Monsanto Company for 33 years before retiring in 1996.

His hobbies were enjoying family, boating, fishing, antique cars and following football, mainly Auburn. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Summit Park campus.

Visitation will be held at 1:00pm until the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Summit Park campus on Summit Blvd. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Pat was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved the Lord. He treasured his friends and never met a stranger.
