Paul T. Howse, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 30, 2009. Paul was born in Birmingham, AL, February 16, 1931, to his parents, Paul T. Howse, Sr., and Ella Anne Bowers Howse. He attended local schools in Birmingham and after graduating from high school served three years in the Air Force. As his goal was to become a Mechanical Engineer, he graduated from the University of Alabama, College of Engineering. His career was with Monsanto Textiles Company, Pensacola, FL. He retired after 31years of service. While with Monsanto he obtained eight patents in the area of textile yarn processing & equipment. He was also affiliated with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and served as Vice President of Region XI; where he received two Fellow Awards in Engineering. He also received two Fellow Awards from the University of Alabama in Engineering. He was also very active in Pensacola Fiesta activities; President of the Krewe Of LaFitte in 1985 and King in 1987, as well as, King of Aphrodite. Paul and Ruby moved from Pensacola to Punta Gorda in 1998. He loved boating, fishing and Alabama Crimson Tide football. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda, The Punta Gorda Elks Lodge, Punta Gorda Boat Club and Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Leigh Howse, whom he donated one of his kidneys in 1981, and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby and daughter, Lisa Anne. Visitation will be held 10-11am Monday, October 5, 2009 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00am with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Tidewell Hospice House and Palliative Care at 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
