Paul Kenneth Simmons, Sr., 91, of Pensacola passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Paul was born August 3, 1919 at Pensacola Naval Air Station. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was devoted to God and his family. Paul Pop truly touched many lives. Paul was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for 63 years. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Allendale APA-127, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as President of the Pensacola Lions Club Western Gate 1980-1882 and East Pensacola Heights 1985-1986. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1976 after 31 years of service. Pop loved being with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family picnics, vacations and walks in the park with his loving wife, Margaret. Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret N. Simmons, his parents; James and Irene Simmons, brothers; Albert H. Simmons, James L. Simmons, Henry R. Simmons, Warner L. Simmons and Ernest Simmons, sisters; Lillian E. Guess and Alberta I. Simmons. Survivors include his three daughters; Paula Woodham (Kye), Sharon Black and Peggy Darling (David), four sons; Kenny Simmons (Maxine), James Simmons, Albert Simmons (Liza) and Bill Simmons (Debby), 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:30pm to 7:00pm Sunday, July 17, 2001 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Msgr. Michael Reed, celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Kenny Simmons, James Simmons, Albert Simmons, Bill Simmons, Jason Simmons and Kye Woodham. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Darling, Davie Darling, Shane Simmons, Cory Simmons and Troy Simmons.
