IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paula Lynn
Yee
July 30, 1952 – March 8, 2025
Paula Young Yee, lovingly known as "The Lady" and "Queenie" by family, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She took her last breath, Saturday morning, March 8, 2025, with her husband of 49 1/2 years right by her side. The morning she departed was sunny and the birds were like a choir rejoicing as Paula joined her loved ones in Heaven. Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt–we will all miss her wisdom, her smile, her laugh, and her love–her absence leaves a tremendous loss.
Born in Helena, AR, July 30, 1952, to William "Willie" Cheung Young and May Sim Chiu Young, Paula was one of six siblings. She worked alongside her parents and siblings in the family grocery store, which shaped the work ethic, organization, and attention to detail she brought to everything she touched in life. Paula attended college at Memphis State University and finished her BS in dental hygiene at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. She and Edwin went to a Stephen Stills Manassas concert for their first date on April 26,1972 and remained together ever since. They married on July 27, 1975. After spending 8 years in Birmingham, AL, they moved to Pensacola, FL, raising a family and devoting their life to the family dental practice and their community.
The compass of her world, Paula's heart and soul, was embodied through her family and the most important place - what mattered the most - was her home. She was a natural caretaker and was most fulfilled when advising, guiding, and nourishing her family. She spent hours in the kitchen, cooking meals from scratch and baking savory and sweet treats, from breakfast casseroles to homemade cookies. Together, she helped her husband build a successful and thriving dental practice, and through her death, leaves behind many patients and friends. Paula and her husband were active in their church, Central Pensacola Beach, and their church family has been a blessing to them.
Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and May Young, and her oldest brother, Willie Young.
She is survived by her four siblings, Wilma Tom, Gail Gilbertsen, Debbie Young, and Jerry Young; her loving husband, Dr. Edwin E. Yee; her children, Jordan Yee (Bre Garrett), Kinsey Yee (Ian Culley), and Jeffrey Yee (Iti Agarwal); as well as seven grandchildren, Eilley, Ethan, Cian, Sahana, Callum, Kairav, and Cora. We will mourn the physical loss of Paula, but we are ever thankful for how she lives on in her grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1:30pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30pm Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Jack Kale officiating.
Paula was blessed to have Sara Gaoa and Freedom Bruce as kind and loving caregivers who became family members. Thank you, Sara and Freedom, for all the love and support!
