Peggy Joy Applegate, 85, of Pensacola passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014. Peggy was born in St. Louis, MO on September 24, 1928, and had been a resident of Pensacola since 1976. Peggy was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and participant in the Pensacola Camellia Club and the American Camellia Society. She enjoyed so many things life had to offer, some of which included singing in her church choir, charity work, dancing, league bowling, shopping, gardening, travel, cooking and spending time with close friends and family who will miss her deeply. Peggy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Captain Donald Applegate of Pensacola; daughters, Susan Grady of Camdenton, MO, Judy Ortner of Miami, FL and Karen Baxter of Lillian, AL; 3 granddaughters Jennifer, Lian and Kate; 2 great grandsons, Carson and Landon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am Friday, February 7, 2014 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Anghaara Dees officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Pensacola, 5 N. Q St., Pensacola, FL 32505.
