Peggy Bond Dodson, 84 passed unexpectedly on June 17, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Pat Dodson, who died on June 6, 1975.
Mrs. Dodson was born on October 21, 1931 in Donaldson, TN to Roscoe and Dixie Bond.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Drozdowski (Ed) of Montgomery, AL; son, David Dodson (Sandie) of Pensacola; grandchildren, Wilson (Sabrina), Alec (Kristen) and Anna (Luke); great grandson, Finn, and Margaret McKinnon; nephews, Michael Condon, Bill Condon and Pat Converse and cousin, Angeline Hill.
Mrs. Dodson was very active in the Pensacola community being involved in many civic, social, and historic organizations, and her church, which included the Junior League of Pensacola, St. Nicolas Girls, the reading society of Nomads, served several terms as President of the Pensacola Historical Society as well as the Pensacola Historic Preservation Society. Mrs. Dodson was one of the first women to join the Panhandle Tiger Bay Club when it was established in 1977 by the late Pensacola News Journal columnist Pat Lloyd and John Broxson, and she augmented her political concerns as a Poll Worker for 50 years. Mrs. Dodson was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church and enjoyed her volunteer work in its Altar Guild.
Mrs. Dodson was quite an athlete being named to the All City Basketball Team in her high school years in Tennessee, and was an accomplished tennis player and golfer. In the off-season she kept in shape feeding her fireplaces with many cords of wood every winter.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church on North 12th Ave. followed by a reception. The Reverend Susan Sowers will officiate.
