Obituary

Peggy Scott Booth "Scottie" Ramsey passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the age of 88.

What a rich, wonderful legacy! This includes a loving, engaged, and productive family: two surviving sons and their wives; Tim & Robyn and Chris & Tammy; four grandchildren, Suzanna, Elizabeth, Blake and Will; and two great-grandchildren. Her love, moral compass, support, and encouragement is a huge loss.

Scottie's legacy is selfless, undying dedication and devotion to her husband and the love of her life, Bill, who preceded her in death by five years; and her three sons; Tim, Blake and Chris.  While Bill pursued his professional passion as a career naval officer in the United States Navy, Scottie was often relegated to the role of virtual single parent. From the waning stages of the Korean War to the Vietnam War to the Cold War, Scottie's family endured a dozen deployments of nine months or longer.

Her grace, dignity and gentleness belied a fierce, principled strength.

Those who were lucky enough to break through a private, cool veneer were rewarded with the epitome of lovingness, loveliness, and warmth. You never doubted that she loved you.

Together, Scottie and Bill lived an amazing love story. Their love was 63 years of an enchanted, beautiful dance. They cherished one another. Scottie was infinitely better because of Bill and Bill was infinitely better because of Scottie. Together, they were a force of love and wholesomeness.

Many who read this obituary will be familiar with Bill's eye-popping achievements, professional and otherwise. Those, too, are Scottie's achievements. There is absolutely zero chance he accomplished what he did without her support, dedication, and devotion.

Consistent with her faith, she now soars on wings like eagles, runs without getting weary and walks without getting faint with those who preceded her in death: her husband, William Edward Ramsey; son; William Blake Ramsey; brother, Thomas B. Booth; as well as a brother-in-law, James B. Ramsey; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Booth.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Robyn Ramsey of Chantilly, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tammy Ramsey of Minturn, CO; brother, Peter Booth of Pensacola; granddaughter, and grandson-in-law, Suzanna and Christopher Bell of Chantilly; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ramsey of Salt Lake City, UT; grandsons, Christopher Blake Ramsey and William Ramsey of Golden, CO; great-grandsons, Matthew Dean Bell and Carter Scott Bell of Chantilly, VA.

Memorial Service will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Christ Episcopal Church, 18 W. Wright St., Pensacola, FL. A burial/inurnment service will be held at the United States Naval Academy, date to be determined.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nurses and nurse assistants at Willowbrooke Court and other staff members at Azalea Trace, especially Vida, Tricia, Sarah (all three WBC), Stephanie (PT) and Amy Knight.
