With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Peggy Ann (Wayrynen) Tucker on Thursday, January 4, 2024. She was 71. She leaves behind many cherished memories and an exceptional and enduring legacy.
Peggy was born to the late Edna Ardis (Larsen) and Robert Ellis Wayrynen on November 26, 1952, in New Brunswick, NJ. As a child, Peggy moved from New Jersey to California before ending up in Wilmington, DE, where her parents then resided permanently. While there, Peggy received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware. She then moved to Pensacola, FL, where she continued her studies and obtained her Master of Education degree at the University of West Florida.
Peggy entered her profession as a Special Education teacher, dedicated decades to her field, and ended her 40-year career as the long-time Principal of Warrington Elementary School. Peggy's passion for education was unwavering. She poured her heart and soul into her work, creating a positive environment for her cherished students and fostering a genuine sense of unity within her work family. Peggy's dedication to the betterment of those around her will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion and her commitment to education truly live on in the hearts of those she inspired.
Peggy was also a gifted musician and songwriter whose melodies and guitar strumming brought joy to all who heard. Her zest for life was reflected in everything she enjoyed, from her deep-rooted love of the water and boating to her newfound passion for golf in retirement.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Lauren Harris (Ben); her grandchildren, Jackson, John Wyatt, and Ellie Harris; her sister, Kathy Zabel (David); her nieces and nephews; countless teachers and students; as well as many friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until a Memorial Service to celebrate Peggy's life begins at 3:00pm Friday, January 19, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories of her.
