Peter Nicholas "Pete" Christakos, 89, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025.
Pete was born June 19, 1935. His parents were immigrants from Sparta, Greece, and raised Pete and his brother and sister in Lawrence, MA. Pete served honorably in the US Marine Corp for 26 years, retiring as Master Gunnery Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran and flew with the Blue Angels on board C-130 Fat Albert as crew chief. After he retired from the military, he held several jobs before going to work for NADEP at NAS Pensacola. He continued to be athletic and had a flare for foreign languages, classical music and opera, and fast math. He had a big voice and a big laugh, and he truly never met a stranger. He was willing to help anyone with anything at any time he was needed. He enjoyed family and friends and was married to his wife Karen for 43 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Euthimia " Effie" Christakos; as well as his sister, Helen Christakos Flanagan.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Karen E. Christakos; daughter, Nikki Christakos Clark (David); son, Nick Christakos (Dana); stepdaughter, Kristi Waldrop; stepson, Jason Waldrop (Laura); grandchildren, Christian, Nicole, Jewel, Ruby, and Ollie; as well as his brother, Chris Christakos.
Visitation will be held from 11:30am-12:30pm Friday, May 30, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Immediately following, a funeral cortege will depart at 12:30pm for a Graveside Service that will begin at 1:00pm at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
