Colonel Peter Adamo Sanchez, M.D., F.A.C.S., P.A., USA (Ret.), 89, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023.

Peter was born on February 4, 1933, in New York City, NY. He started his military service as a navigator in the US Air Force. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he attended medical school at the University of Miami. He did an internship at Pensacola and residency in Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans.

Peter led a successful ophthalmology private practice in Pensacola, FL, and service in the US Army Reserve. He was called up during Desert Storm, and Colonel Sanchez served as the Commanding Officer for the 3297 ^th US Army Hospital. After Desert Storm, Peter joined the Premier Medical Group in Mobile, AL.

Peter was an active member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. He served on the vestry and was Senior Warden.

Peter is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Sanchez; his sons, Michael and Craig (Allison); daughters, Heather Taylor (Paul) and Vanessa Wise (Darren); stepson, Dr. Bill Mann (Katie); as well as 10 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 616 Ft. Morgan Rd., Gulf Shores, AL 36542 with a reception to follow.
