Phyllis Hansen Galloway passed away April 5, 2012, in the Azalea Trace Retirement Home in Pensacola. She was born February 21, 1921, in Chicago, IL, where she was raised. She later spent 27 years in Roswell, GA, before moving to Pensacola in 2006. She was married to her high school sweetheart, James Galloway, for 56 years. They had three daughters; Jill married to Jeffrey Clark of Pensacola, Judy to Mark Malan of Peoria, IL, and Joanne to Marshall Sperry of Decatur, IL. She had four grandsons; James, married to Lacey Clark of Niceville, FL; John Clark of Tampa; Byron and Benjamin Sperry of Decatur, IL, and two great-grandchildren; Grayson and Gwyneth Clark of Niceville. Preceding her in death are her husband and brothers Warren and Merle Hansen. During her active life she was President of a number of organizations: In Illinois, she was President of both the Potawatamie Hills Womens Organization and the Hazel Crest League of Women Voters. After moving to Roswell, GA, she became President of the Brookfield Womens Organization and, later, President of the Ladies 18 Holes Golfers of Brookfield. She had been an avid golfer for 40 years, and during that time garnered 2 holes-in-one, one in 1971 and one in 1986. Other hobbies were poster making for Azalea Trace Retirement Home where she lived, and playing bridge and reading. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11, in the Azalea Trace Auditorium. Her cremains will be interred later in a private ceremony in the Historic Cemetery of the Presbyterian Church of Roswell, GA, beside her husband.
