Phyllis Joann (Duvendeck) Webb, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
She was born "in the family home" in Portsmouth, OH, on March 30, 1927, to Arthur and Byrdene Duvendeck. Phyllis grew up in Sciotoville and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1944. She attended Ohio University - Portsmouth. Phyllis was married to Oliver "Ollie" Webb in June 1947 and raised two sons, Graydon and Roger. She worked as an essential part of the family's restaurant Ollie's Drive Inn and the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants' growth in the Ohio cities of Portsmouth, New Boston, Chillicothe, and Circleville. Phyllis was an accomplished pianist through the tutoring of Ms. Dorothy Knost and was often called upon to accompany and assist with the Junior Choir at Franklin Avenue Methodist Church in the 1950s and 1960s. She enjoyed gardening and served as President of the Green Triangle Garden Club and her group of friends who would meet at their Bridge Club. Phyllis enjoyed her several dogs that included two Boxers ("Pride" & "Sassy") as well as later, and concurrent Yorkshire Terriers ("Twinkie," "Chelsea", & "Judah"). In the early 1980's she relocated to Columbus to be closer to her sons and briefly joined The Union Department Store located at Kingsdale Center. In her later years, Phyllis traveled extensively and furthered her knowledge of American history. Since the early 1990s, she spent part of each year in the Destin/Miramar Beach, FL area to enjoy the Gulf of Mexico beaches and closer proximity to her son, Roger. Roger had previously relocated to the adjacent Pensacola Area.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver; her parents; several aunts and uncles of the Sciotoville Duvendeck families; as well as her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Anna Mae Felty/Webb.
She is survived by her son, Graydon, his wife Terri and her two grandsons, Bryan and Corey; her son, Roger, his wife Raisa, and their daughter, Sasha and nephews, Rob, John, and Gary Felty.
Due to the complications from COVID-19, there will be no services.
