Dale L. Maret, Jr., 72, of Pensacola, FL died Saturday, January 10, 2015. Mr. Maret was born in Cushing, OK on June 23, 1942. He was the son of the late Dale L. Maret, Sr. and Kathryn V. (Kirby) Rogers. Mr. Maret grew up in Stillwater, OK and attended Stillwater High School. He retired as a Senior Chief Personnelman after serving over 23 years on active duty in the United States Navy. His naval service allowed him to see much of the United States and the rest of the world including a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He returned to the Department of the Navy and served an additional 23 years as a civilian, ultimately settling down in Pensacola in 1994. He received an Associate's Degree from State Technical College of Memphis. He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America mentoring a great number of young men into adulthood. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was proud of his 30 year chip from AA. Gramps, as he was affectionately known, loved "good" country music, TV and movie westerns and thinking he was in charge. He was addicted to computer solitaire. Mr. Maret was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 40 years, Mrs. Darlene L. (Nye) Maret who passed away in 2009. Mr. Maret is survived by his son, Timothy L. Maret of Peachtree City, GA; daughter, Pamela Ann Maret of Pensacola; four grandchildren, Joshua Hamilton, Lydia Hamilton, Arthur Gore and Alex Gore; brother, Burl Maret of Tulsa, OK. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4600 N. 9th Ave. with Pastor Frank Gore officiating. Burial will follow at 1:15 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 5514 N.
