IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Priscilla B.
Long
April 27, 1949 – December 12, 2025
Priscilla B. Long, 76, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, in the loving arms of her husband and children.
Born Priscilla Young Brooks to parents, William Emmett Brooks, Jr and Edward Archibald Brooks, in Brewton, AL, she was always a loving and caring child. These traits were exemplified throughout her life as evidenced by the outpouring of affection for her by so many at her passing.
Priscilla attended elementary school in Brewton, AL. However, her father's career moved the family to Indiana, where Priscilla attended Tudor Hall High School in Indianapolis. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes, IN and then she returned south, where she attended Gulf Park College for Women and the University of Alabama.
Priscilla always desired a career flying and in 1970 she joined Trans World Airlines as an in-flight cabin attendant; the glory days of flight! She was stationed in Los Angeles for several years until an in-flight injury ended her flying career. A return to Indiana led to a position with her father's newspaper and then to a customer service / sales position as an instructor for a computer equipment company.
The move back to Indiana was not exactly what Priscilla had been looking for, and her hope was always to return to the beautiful, white sandy beaches of the sunny South. However, as fate would have it, a long-time family friend introduced Priscilla to her future husband, Vincent.
It was truly love at first sight. The two married on August 22, 1981, and their life together has lasted for 44 years of unimaginable happiness. From day one of their married life however, Priscilla had a firm resolve to move from the cold winters to the sunny, warm climate of the South; specifically Gulf Breeze, FL. In 1989, with two children ages 4 and 6, retired parents and a somewhat concerned husband, Priscilla, by force of will, relocated the family to Gulf Breeze. Best move ever! She was always right.
Priscilla touched so many lives through her good works as a member of St Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze. She was a member of the altar society and an extraordinary minister for the homebound. Priscilla had a deep and true devotion to Our Blessed Mother.
Her community service included serving on the Board of Directors at Favor House domestic violence shelter, as well as the board of Focus auxiliary for Lakeview Center.
Her social clubs included the Miraflores Garden Club where she was a past president and secretary, Merry Makers Mardi Gras board member and past court member and long-time board member of the Carnival Sunday Mardi Gras crew.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. William Emmett Brooks, Jr and Mrs. Edward Archibald Brooks.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Vincent J. Long; daughter, Georgia Priscilla; son, Vincent (Naila) Long; brothers, William E. (Linda) Brooks III and Jordan Edward (Lisa) Brooks; sister, Rebecca Brevard (Gregory) Watson; as well as an aunt, Margaret Brooks of Graceville, FL.
A visitation will be held from 10:30am until a Funeral Mass begins at 11:00am Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 Daniel Dr., Gulf Breeze, FL 32561. Following Mass, a reception will be held from 12:45pm-3:00pm at the Pensacola Yacht Club, 1897 Cypress St., Pensacola, FL 32502.
