Ralph M. (Monty) Persell, Jr., 74, of Pensacola passed away Wednesday September 3, 2014. Monty was born on October 1, 1939 in Jackson, MS to Lois Allred and Lt. Col. Ralph M. Persell. The family moved to New Orleans, LA where Monty graduated from Isidore Newman School in 1957. Monty went on to the University of Virginia graduating in 1961. He obtained his Pilot Licenses and flew for several years. In 1994 Monty went to Moscow, Russia to fly the Mig-29. He was a lifetime member of the Quiet Birdmen. In recent years he became a Southern Tree Farmer raising Pine Trees in Mississippi. For the last several years Sheron and Monty traveled throughout world. Monty leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Geoffrey Persell; his two step-sons, David and Michael Benfer whom he loved as his own; and the love of his life, Sheron Benfer-Persell. Monty thank you for touching my life and letting me know you and love you. Services will be held at a later date.
