Ramona Ann Inkel, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018.  She was 85 years old.

The oldest of nine children Ramona was born in Citronelle, AL on July 19, 1932 to Raymond and Anna Mae Heyer. She graduated from Bishop Toolen High School, Mobile, AL class of '44. On July 11, 1953 she married her loving husband of 65 years, Maurice J. Inkel, who at the time was a 2ndLt in the United States Air Force. Over the next twenty years, Ramona and Maurice traveled to wherever the Air Force would send them raising their family, which would eventually reach a total of five children.  In 1973, Ramona and Maurice moved to Pace, FL. Ramona continued her academic studies and eventually graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Early Childhood education. She taught in Santa Rosa County Schools as a full-time kindergarten teacher at S.S. Dixon School, Pace FL.  After retiring from the school system, Ramona and Maurice moved to St. Mienrad, IN, where they built a beautiful log cabin. This gorgeous location provided many precious memories for their children, and grandchildren. In 2006, Ramona and Maurice returned to Pensacola to be closer to family and friends.

Ramona is survived by her loving husband, Maurice J. Inkel; their five children, Maurice J. Inkel, Jr., Donna M. Mason, Stephen R. Inkel, Barbara A. Inkel and Diane L. Wahlstedt; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A Funeral Cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel around 9:00am, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 for Lady of Loretto Chapel on NAS Pensacola. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:30am, Father James Valenzuela, celebrant. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made in Ramona's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
