IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randy Allen
Wood
October 3, 1951 – July 22, 2018
Randy Allen Wood passed away in his sleep on July 22, 2018 in Pensacola, FL.
Randy was born and raised in Jacksonville, AL. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1969. Randy was employed by the Jacksonville Parks & Recreation Department in his 20s and later worked in the construction industry in Birmingham for many years before retiring in Pensacola.
Randy was married for 37 years to Kim Layman Wood and remained as much in love with her as he was the day they married. He adored their daughter, Kathryn Evelyn, and the feeling was deeply mutual.
Randy had many good friends and was a good friend to many, especially those who shared his love for the Allman Brothers and Alabama football, Roll Tide. Randy was an avid concert-goer whose passion for live music began when his brother Jack took him to the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival.
Randy's father owned a pool hall in Jacksonville, and Randy began playing pool at an early age. In Pensacola, he played pool for the "Sir Richard's Lounge and Package" team in the Ralph C. Owens Memorial 8-Ball League.
Randy was a great appreciator of beauty. He collected art and was a talented painter in his own right.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Crane Wood and Euell Dean Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Layman Wood; daughter, Kathryn Evelyn Suttonwood (Anthony); brother, Jack Wood; mother-in-law, Evelyn Layman and brother-in-law, Hank Layman (Deborah).
Randy will be missed, and he will be remembered.
A memorial reception will be held at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 2276 Airport Boulevard, Pensacola, FL 32504 on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Scratch-Off tickets in Randy's honor. Proceeds will be donated to the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department for the planting of trees.
