IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ray H.
Campbell
July 8, 1949 – January 12, 2021
Raymond "Ray" Harvey Campbell, 71, passed away unexpectedly in an automobile accident on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
A native of Pensacola, he was the second-born child of Harvey Campbell, Jr, and Anna Kathryn (Briese) Campbell. He attended the local schools of Allie Yniestra Elementary School, where his mother taught, Blount Junior High School, and graduated from Pensacola High School, Class of 1967. Cross-country track was his extra-curricular sport, and as a teen, he rode his bike and covered many miles traveling around lower Escambia County, and occasionally into Baldwin County. His post-secondary education at PJC was punctuated by a job at the downtown location of Pensacola Home and Savings, where he began his banking career and further developed his skills. He enlisted in the military, and trained for the Army Reserve at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, and served his country in this manner. Following his job at Pensacola Home and Savings, he was employed in various positions at the downtown location of Barnett Bank, where he eventually became Assistant Vice President of Bank Security and of the Credit Department. Many of his coworkers will remember him for his baking culinary skills, especially of excellent cheesecakes. During this time, he also continued his education at UWF, and ultimately earned a Bachelor of Education Degree. For his second career, he followed his love of the outdoors, and opened his own business of Lawn and Garden Care, which allowed him to make many friends. He will be remembered as a hard worker with a desire to complete a project to the best of his ability. After he retired, he continued his love of the outdoors by creating landscaped areas within his own yard. He had a unique sense of humor, best exemplified by his choice of greeting cards for family and friends. Those left behind to miss him will also remember him as having a good heart and willing to help in any way he could.
He will be sadly missed and is survived by his sister, Judy Campbell Greunke (Jim); his older nephew, Karl (Jenny, children Tyler and Charlotte); younger nephew, Kurt (Sandra and unborn son, Dawson); as well as others left to remember and miss him include his cousins, extended family, friends-like-family, personal friends, and neighbors.
He contributed generously to many organizations, so please consider a gift to your favorite organization in his memory.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside ceremony will be held.
