Ray Oliver Etheridge, 87, of Pensacola, FL, passed away at home on Friday June 6, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Ray was born in Sweetwater, AL to Watson Oliver Etheridge and Mamie Inez Thompson Etheridge. He was a graduate of Pensacola High School in 1955 and then attended Pensacola Junior College earning an associate's degree in Bookkeeping. He served in the Army Reserves in the early 1960's, while working his way up the ladder at A&P Grocery Store to become manager. Ray later used his bookkeeping degree to change careers and work for Nelson Mechanical in the 1970's, his incredible work ethic led him to pursue a successful Property Management Career and opening his own business, Etheridge Property Management in 1974.
Ray married the love of his life Alice Faye Kelly Etheridge in 1958. He loved hunting with his son Kevin and his grandson's; he also enjoyed boating on Pensacola Bay and was a long-standing member of the Pensacola Yacht Club. Ray was called "Grand" to his grandchildren that he loved so much and always welcomed them to his home with a big smile! He was a member of the Krewe of Lafitte, Saint's and Sinners, Home Builders Association and the Property Managers Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents Watson Oliver Etheridge and Mamie Inez Thompson Etheridge, sister, Elizabeth Kelly.
Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice Faye Kelly Etheridge; children, Kevin Etheridge (Beth), Cheryl Kelley (Larry), Julie Etheridge, and Jennifer Cagle (Matt); grandchildren, Brittany Hankins (David), Zach Etheridge (Emily), Asti Russell (Addison), Kelli Wilks (Ramsey), Gretchen Heckathorn (Cody), Mitchell Cagle, and Barron Cagle; great-grandchildren, Raynor, Alice Grace, Caroline, Caterina, Roma, Wyatt, Emerson, and Enzo Ray; his brother, Jerry Etheridge (Valerie); sisters, Sue Palmer (Wilson), Nell Mock, and Velma Brennan (Jimmy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 1:00pm until a Funeral Service begins at 2:00pm Friday, June 13, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church, 18 W Wright St., with Dr. Michael Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
The family will receive guests at a reception following the burial at Pensacola Yacht Club.
Active Pallbearers will be Zach Etheridge, Ramsey Wilks, David Hankins, Mitchell Cagle, and Barron Cagle, and Cody Heckathorn. Honorary Pallbearer will be Addison Russell.
The family would like to give special thanks to People's Hospice Care, and Nelli Cusanelli and Alex Cable previous & wonderful home care providers.
