Mr. Raymond Drainville, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born on April 5, 1927 in Woonsocket, RI to Joseph Conrad Drainville and Imelda Roberge Drainville. Ray was a World War II veteran, and is retired from the US Post Office as a letter carrier out of the Jordan Street location in Pensacola. After he retired from the post office he owned his own heating and air conditioning repair business. Over the years he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, several Krewes, the American Legion, the Elks, and the Eagles. He and Jewel loved to dance and they would go dancing two to three times per week. Ray loved to fish, and even owned his own airplane for years. His parents, his two brothers Leo Drainville and Maurice Drainville, precede him in death. He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Patricia (Pat) and James W. Mahoney and two loving grandchildren, Mary Margaret (Peggy) Mahoney, and James Raymond (Ray) Mahoney all of Cordova, TN. Also, he leaves behind a companion of almost 15 years Jewel Pope of Pensacola, FL, and her three grandchildren, Kathy Sjodin and husband Norm of Boise, ID; Jim Mills of Melbourne, Australia, and Bob Mills of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a rosary to be prayed at 5:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held 11:30am Thursday, May 26, 2011 at St. Marys Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Johnson celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
