Raymond Hindman, 88, of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Raymond was born on December 21, 1933, in Carbondale, IL to Leo and Hazel (Grayhem) Hindman. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 19. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Imelda Moloney, in Denver, CO in 1960. Raymond and Carolyn had five children over the next 16 years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March 2010. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 in Biloxi, MS, having served 22 years. He then began a second career in Elementary Education as a teacher in Biloxi, MS. He earned his doctorate in education in 1979 from the University of Southern Mississippi and served as an elementary school principal for seven years. Dr. Hindman and his wife moved to Gulf Breeze, FL, in the summer of 1986. After working several years outside of public education, he returned to teaching in the classroom until he retired from public education in Florida in 1998, but continued volunteering in education for many more years. He was a past member of Lions Club International, Knights of Columbus, and an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze, until recent years.
Dr. Hindman was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his parents, Leo and Hazel, and his sister Jackye.
He is survived by his five children, Cheri, Rusty (Deann), Mike (Tish), David, and Charlie (Bronwynn); his twelve grandchildren, Megan, Molly, Jessica, Ryan, Matthew, Cassidy, Jannah, Carson, Ethan, Justin, Brennan, and McKenna; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Fr. James Valenzuala celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
