Rebecca Smith Lapehn, 93, of Pensacola passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017.

Mrs. Lapehn was born in Missouri Valley, IA to John Francois and Frances Albena (Crawford) Smith. She grew up in Iowa joining the US Navy in 1944, serving her country as a WAVE until 1946. After military service she attended the State University of Iowa in Iowa City, where she met her future husband, Donald Harry Lapehn. They were married in their senior year and graduated together in 1949. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola.

Preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Josephine, Genevieve and Miriam.

Mrs. Lapehn is survived by her husband of 68 years, Donald Harry Lapehn; daughter, Becky Ann Lapehn (Ricky) of Pensacola; sons, John Francis Lapehn (Jeanette) of South Bend, IN and Richard Arnold Lapehn (Laura) of Barberton, OH; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel from 9:45am until a Funeral Cortege departs at 10:30am Monday, October 2, 2017 for a Graveside Service at Barrancas National Cemetery at 11:00am. Chaplain Jim Dietz with Azalea Trace and Rev. Robert Quiring from First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Military honors will be observed at the graveside.
