Obituary

Charles "Richard" Bone, 78, of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Richard was born on September 12, 1946, in Montgomery, AL. He was a man whose life left a lasting impact on everyone he met. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School and Troy State University, he served his country as a US Army Captain in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Upon his return, Richard earned his bachelor's degree in science from Troy State and soon moved to Atlanta, GA, where he met the love of his life, Betty Bone. They married in 1976 and spent nearly 49 years together, building a beautiful life.

In 1977, Richard and Betty moved to Pensacola, FL, where Richard established his business, Environmental Pest Control, in 1981. In October 1983, their daughter Jennifer Lee was born, and Richard dedicated himself to creating a lifetime of cherished memories for his family. His commitment to service and community was evident in his work as a Sunday School teacher at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, where he was a fixture for nearly 40 years, known for his colorful neckties, jokes, and welcoming smile.

A man of many interests, Richard played many years of softball, both in church leagues and rec leagues, was an active member of the Jaycees, and was an avid lover of Halloween. He also found joy in volunteering alongside Betty, fishing, sailing, and relaxing on the beach with his family.

Richard's warmth, kindness, and sense of humor will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy is one of service, love, and a life well-lived…one that will forever imprint on the hearts of those around him.
