Richard M. Santos, 86, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Richard is survived by his wife Joan of 63 years, whom he adored whole heartily. When Richard first spotted "Joanie" sitting on the hood of that car at the young age of 18, it was love at first site. They settled in Babylon, Long Island, NY and started their life together. Together they had six beautiful children, Robert "Bob", CarolAnn, Richard, Debra, Therese and Edward. They have been blessed with eleven beautiful grandchildren; Dorothy, Elizabeth, Richard, Nick, Melissa, Laurie, Michelle, Anthony, Alex, Dominic and Ali; three great grandchildren; Marsden, Cooper and Bella. Richard was a retired Detective from Suffolk County, NY. After moving to Florida with Joan they enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family and loved the beach! Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Father Nicholas Schumm celebrant. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. A very special thank you to the staff of wonderful nurses, CNA's, and all the staff at Rosewood Nursing Home who helped care for Richard in these last days. Your kindness, compassion and love does not go unnoticed, you are all a blessing to the families you help care for. Your daily routines seem endless, but thank you for every little caring moment of feeding, dressing and loving care you give. Also, a warm thank you to Covenant Hospice who is truly such a dedicated team of loving professionals, thank you so much.
