Ricki Ryuko Oscarson, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13th, 2022.
Ricki was born on July 20, 1931 in Batocho Nasu-gun Tochigi Prefecture, Japan to Koichi and Mitsu Iizuka. She attended several schools in the Tochigi Prefecture, graduating from high school in 1948. She moved to Tokyo, where she worked in the beauty industry selling cosmetics. She met and married her first husband, Walter Anderson, there and immigrated to the US, receiving her US citizenship in 1964. They had 3 children (Betty died at 18 months) and lived in several places including Massachusetts, California, Arkansas and Japan and settled in Ft Walton Beach, where they were in divorced in 1976. Ricki met her second husband, George, in Ft Walton, where they were married in October of 1977. They later moved to Pensacola. In 2019, Ricki moved to Wisconsin where she lived with her daughter.
Ricki and George owned and operated a Chinese takeout restaurant in Ft Walton during the seventies. She was very talented at cake decorating and taught cake decorating classes well into her 60's. She was an avid gardener and could be counted on for sharing fresh vegetables and fruit with friends and neighbors. She was also active in the Pensacola Japanese community, keeping in touch with her Japanese roots.
Ricki is preceded in death by her husband, George, her daughter Elizabeth "Betty" Anderson, and her brothers Takashi, Masawa and Hiroshi Ozawa.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzan Anderson Strack(Tom); her son, John "AJ" Anderson; grandson, Matthew Strack; and several nieces and nephews in Japan; stepdaughters, Sandee Ward (Bill) and Sharron "Sherri" Bigot; their children, Todd Lewick (Tracy), Kevin Lewick, Jamie Hutchins (Shawn), Amanda Brenci (James), Paul Bigot (Kari); and their grandchildren, Jordan and Kayla Lewick, Logan, Adyson, Dawson and Jolene Hutchins, and Lana, Norah and Brooks Brenci.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Bonefish Grill, 5025 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
