Dr. Robert L. Anderson, 87, of Pensacola, FL passed away on September 13, 2018 after recent hospital stays and cardiac procedures.

He was raised in St. Petersburg, FL where he graduated from St. Petersburg High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent the majority of his enlistment in Japan. After his discharge from the Air Force, Dr. Anderson enrolled in the University of Florida. He married his wife of 43 years, Mary Loucille Anderson after her graduation from Florida State University and she joined him in Gainesville. After obtaining his PhD from UF, Dr. Anderson accepted a teaching position with the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS where they lived and started a family. Dr. Anderson was subsequently a founding faculty member at the University of West Florida where he taught for the rest of his professional career. Dr. Anderson was an accomplished author and educator with a professional career that lasted over 40 years. He inspired and assisted many students to pursue careers as litigators, Judges, educators and public safety professionals. Dr. Anderson was an avid reader, enjoyed social gatherings with his former colleagues/friends, playing chess, and traveling. Dr. Anderson loved family, school, and performance events with his granddaughters.

Dr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou and his daughter Lynn Allen.

He is survived by his granddaughters Lindsay and Lauren Allen, Heather Kyer, and his son in law, William Allen. Dr. Anderson was a punctual and practical gentleman. In that spirit he pre-directed Harper-Morris for a direct interment with his wife and by his daughter at Bayview Memorial Park.
