Robert "Bob" Edgar Griffith, 93, of Pensacola passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016. Bob was married to his college sweetheart for 42 years before her untimely death from heart complications in 1992. She (Carlotta) taught the lower grades in local public schools. They had no children.
Bob was a native Pensacolian and lived here continuously since 1934. His family lived in Birmingham from 1924-1934.
They bought their home, while it was being constructed in October 1968 and moved in early December 1968.
He retired from the Navy Aircraft Rework Facility in 1980 with a total federal service time of 39 plus years. His position at time of retirement was Division Director, Aeronautical Engineering Dept. He served 30 months in the Army Air Corps during WW II.
He was a member and long time officer in the Pensacola Lions Club. Bob was also a member of Krewe of Lafitte and Karnival Kavaliers social clubs. He attended the Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, Pensacola.
He was predeceased in death by his wife of 43 years, Carlotta Malloy Griffith; father and mother, Henry Grady and Katherine Blake Griffith; brother and sister-in-law, Grady Jr. and Betty McMillan Griffith.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Melynda Malloy Teusaw (Dr. Dean Teusaw, Sr.); niece, Jennifer Teusaw Feagin (Ian); nephews, Dean Teusaw, Jr. (Laurie), Mack Griffith (Christine), Hank Griffith (Donna), Frank Malloy and Patrick Malloy.
Visitation will be held at 10am Saturday, February 13, 2016 with Funeral services beginning at 11:00am in Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial follows at Bayview Memorial Park with military honors.
