Obituary

Robert Lee King, Jr., M.D., 88, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, September 21, 2009. Dr. Bob King was born in Kingman, KS on March 28, 1921. He obtained his Medical Degree in 1946 from the University of Minnesota. He served active duty in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps from 1942-1961. He entered the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1961 and retired in 1972 as an U.S. Navy Captain. Dr. King entered into private practice, affiliated with the Medical Center Clinic and West Florida Regional Hospital, as an Ear, Nose and Throat physician specialist until his retirement from medical practice in 1989. He was involved with multiple civic and fraternal organizations including Rotary Club, American Water Ski Association and the Florida Laryngectomy Association. He married Eleanor Mary Parker on September 3, 1948 and they had one son, Robert L. King III, born January 15, 1955. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor Mary Tedy , who passed March 22, 2004. His son, Robert, who resides in Port Saint Lucie, FL, survives him. Memorial Service will be held 4:00pm Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Randon Jackson officiating. Following the services the family will receive friends in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
