Bobby LaBounty, 86, passed away Friday morning, January 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born in Benton, IL in 1928 and moved with his family to Pensacola in 1938. He grew up in East Pensacola Heights and was a loyal member of the Pensacola High School Class of 1946. After proudly serving in the U.S. Army, Bobby returned to Pensacola, met and married Gail Ransom to whom he has been lovingly married for the past 62 years. Bob and Gail made their home in Cordova Park and he worked for St. Regis Paper Company/International Paper Company for 44 years. During his years at St. Regis, Bobby made countless lifelong friends and served as a member of the St. Regis Employee's Credit Union Board. He was an active member of numerous community service organizations including the Masons, Scottish Rite and Shriners. Bobby was an avid blood donor to the American Red Cross of Northwest Florida. During his lifetime, he gave over 10 gallons. Bobby never met a stranger, considering every acquaintance his true friend. He took a genuine interest in the lives of each of the people he met daily. Those who had the pleasure of meeting Bobby will remember his kindness, respect, thoughtfulness and zest for life. His bigger-than-life personality was contagious to all who knew him, always leaving them with a story about him that will bring a smile to their faces. The greatest accomplishment and joy of his life was his family by whom he is survived; his wife Gail; sons, Michael (Julie), Richard (Judy) and his four beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Drew, Brook and Kate. Bobby's favorite pastime was his time with family, working out with friends at the Gym and avidly following the activities and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. For the last 32 years there has been no bigger fan of Catholic High School and it's athletic programs than Bobby LaBounty. His son, Richard, has been the head Baseball Coach since 1983 and for the past 30+ years Bobby and Gail never missed a game until their declining health prevented them from attending. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel and a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Frank Beall officiating. Reception to follow. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Covenant Hospice, Dr. Dee McLeod; her nurse Lucy and his caregivers, Georgia, Bette and Vera. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pensacola Catholic High School Baseball Program.
