Robert Frederick Pfeffle of Pensacola, FL died peacefully Wednesday, October 15, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Dr. Pfeffle was born April 5, 1940 in St. Louis, MO, to Dr. Henry C. and Miriam (Stockhus) Pfeffle. He attended St. Louis University High School in Saint Louis and Regis College in Denver, CO before graduating from Saint Louis University School of Dentistry. In 1965, he married Suzanne Elizabeth Brefeld of Trenton, IL. After a tour in the United States Air Force from 1965-1967, he enjoyed a long and distinguished career in dentistry in St. Louis alongside his father and brother. He enjoyed retirement in Key West, FL for many years and recently moved to Pensacola to be closer to family. He was member and leader of the Kirkwood, MO chapter of Optimist International, and a member of both the American Dental Association and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was an avid scholar of Russian history and a world traveler. He was a member of Key West Yacht Club and Pensacola Country Club. Dr. Pfeffle was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry C. & Miriam (Stockhus) Pfeffle and his brother, Dr. Henry J. Pfeffle. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Suzanne (Brefeld); his son, Dr. Robert C. (Kristin) Pfeffle of Mobile, AL and his daughters, Kristen (Jason) Stout of Marin County, CA and Nicole (James) Lonano of Port St. Lucie, FL. He has 5 grandchildren, Jordan Leigh Fabing Pfeffle, Kathleen Elizabeth Brefeld Pfeffle, Lily Ann Stout, Gabriella Ann Pfeffle Lonano and Lucas Robert Pfeffle Lonano. He has several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 9:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00am Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Pensacola, FL, with Fr. Joe Callipare celebrant.
