Obituary

Robert Frank Ryan, M.D., age 89, a resident of Azalea Trace, died Sunday,September 11, 2011 at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola. He was born on June 23, 1922 in Hoquiam, WA and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1940. After completing undergraduate studies he attended Stanford University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. Dr. Ryan served as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy for three years and afterwards completed residency training in Washington, D.C., Mayo Clinic and Tulane in New Orleans. He retired from the faculty of Tulane and Charity Hospital as Emeritus Professor of Surgery and Chief of Plastic Surgery in 1986. In 1987 Dr. Ryan moved to Perdido Key, FL and enjoyed many hobbies and interests. In recent years he resided at Azalea Trace where he fostered new friendships and fun times. He is survived by distant relatives in Washington and special family, Colleen Rogers, Gulf Breeze, and her sons Galen, Aaron, and Brion. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, September 16, 2011 at Azalea Trace Auditorium. A Committal Service of Dr. Ryans cremains will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, with military honors.
