Robert Eugene Speed, 59 of Pensacola, FL died Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Robert was born in Newton, MS on January 8, 1960 and raised in Pensacola, FL. He attended Ferry Pass Elementary & Middle School. He graduate from Woodham High School in 1978. Robert reached Eagle Scout with Scout Troop 403. He attended Nashville Auto Diesel College, he then began his career in the oilfield as a Roustabout with Odeco Seven in the early eighties. He worked his way up through multiple rig positions with Diamond Offshore including Rig Superintendent on the Ocean Clipper in 1996. He worked Inshore as Drilling Superintendent and Operations Manager. From that point, he was promoted to Area Manager in Mexico and then to Area Manager of Australasia. Robert maintained that position for the last ten years. He was an integral part of the Diamond Family for over 35 years. His contributions to the Company were many, and they enabled the Company to achieve much success, both operationally and commercially. Robert traveled the world during his career, living in 5 different countries. He enjoyed spending time with friends fishing and golfing. Robert is and will continue to be missed by his family, friends and co-workers.
Robert is preceded in death by his stepfather, Edward Stifflemire.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Heather Craig, Kadee Barnett; stepchildren; Robyn Webre, Micohs Villareal; mother, Glenda Neal; siblings, Jim Speed, Kimberly Sapp, Steve Speed, and Chad Stifflemire; his grandchildren; his best friends Gregg Broussard and Andy Bonifay.
