Robert Stanny was born in Detroit, Michigan, February 2, 1948 to Adam Richard Stanny and Margaret Call Stanny. He graduated from Florida State University in 1980 with a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. He moved to Pensacola in 1984 to work as a Research Psychologist at the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory (NAMRL). He later became Chief Scientist at NAMRL and served in this role until his retirement in 2004. Bob was an avid gardener and, in recent years, became a skilled woodworker, building furniture.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Richard Stanny and Margaret Call Stanny, and his siblings, Ellen Cooke and Jeffrey Stanny. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Hoffman Stanny, of Pensacola, Florida and his daughter, Margaret Stanny, of Eugene, Oregon.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on October 19, 2019, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd, Pensacola, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy or Covenant Inpatient Hospice Center (Sacred Heart Hospital).
