Obituary

Bob Richardson, 68, a lifelong resident of Pensacola lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Bob was born on September 30, 1945 to Terry and Virginia Richardson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Richardson. He attended Sewanee Military Academy and the University of Alabama. Bob proudly served in the US Army and was awarded 35 air medals and a bronze star while flying 850 missions as a pilot over hostile territory in Vietnam. Bob was a longtime member of the Pensacola Country Club, a founding member of the Baylen Street Social Club and a Knight in the Fiesta of Five Flags. He was a highly respected real estate broker in the Pensacola area. The Richardson Agency was founded by his father in 1936 and is the oldest agency in the market. He was on the Board of Directors for the Warrington Bank, served on the Board of Directors for American Fidelity Life Insurance Co. and the Better Business Bureau. Bob was an avid history buff and, at different times in his life, enjoyed golf, sailing, boating and gardening, but his greatest joy came when he could watch and celebrate an Alabama Crimson Tide win. One of the highlights of his life was traveling to Miami in 2012 to see Alabama win the National Championship game. Still here to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathie; countless friends and many extended family members including: Kathie's children, Alex Schroeder (Jessica), Ingrid Hewette (James) and Carrie Simmons (Kyle); brother-in-law, Derryl Kidder; nephew, McCall Richardson; Suzi Riley (Chuck); six grandchildren that call him "G-bob"; and Goldy and Miss Kitty. Friends will be received 10:00am until a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11:00am Friday, November 22, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, with military honors. Active Pallbearers will be Derryl Kidder, Alex Schroeder, McCall Richardson, James Hewette, Bobby Fair, Barry Dickson, Chick Glagola, Chuck Riley and Woodrow Stallworth. Honorary Pallbearers will be the "Thursday Golf Group." In lieu of flowers, there will be note cards at Harper-Morris that Bob would like you to share. Bob's loved ones wish to extend their gratitude to his extended family members and friends for the friendship, assistance and concern that each has shown. Thank you, Bob, for leaving us with many happy memories and endless funny "Bob" stories. Roll Tide Roll!
