Ragnar "Rocky" Avenarius, 79, of Milton, FL passed away Friday, December 27, 2019.
Rocky moved from Iceland to New York with his family in 1951. He graduated from W. Babylon High School and became an American Citizen. Rocky served briefly in the US Air Force before transferring to the US Navy where he later retired in 1980. Rocky then went to work for Civil Service for the US Navy. After serving his country he then later retired in 1999.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Avenarius and Sally Avenarius.
Survivors include his wife, P.J. Avenarius; son, Emil Avenarius; daughters, Susan Avenarius Prather (Anthony) and Lisa Avenarius Kay; sisters, Barbara Moore, Emily Phillips (Bob), Nettie Walsh and Carol Vollmer (Randy); a brother William Avenarius (Judy) as well as six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nephew and nieces.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Kyle Avenarius, Dylan Avenarius, Kristopher Prather, Shawn Kay, Anthony Prather, and Kevin Patane.
