Roger E. Head, 89, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. Mr. Head was born December 8, 1921 in Greenville, AL. He was the oldest child of Joseph and Bena Head. Roger married Shirley Chadwick of Burlington, VT on February 6, 1943. Together they had six children and raised five. He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Chadwick Head and his wife of 61 years, Shirley. They enjoyed family and traveling. Among other places, they lived in Pensacola, FL and later moved to Orange Park, FL. They were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Green Cove Springs, FL. Roger saw combat action in the European Theater during WWII, including participation in the first wave of D-Day assault on Omaha Beach. Roger earned the Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Euro-African-Mid East Campaign Medals with three stars, Meritorious Unit Emblem, WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII while in the Army. Roger is survived by his two brothers, Newton Head of Dothan, AL and Wade Head of Ft. Deposit, AL. He is also survived by his five children and spouses, Richard E. and Ginger Head of Pea Ridge, FL, Theresa H. and James H. Wilson of Green Cove Springs, FL, Pris and Sal Bonelli of Pensacola, FL, Kathleen H. and Bryan D. Pooler of Salem, AL, Rodger T. and Denise Head of Nashville, TN; twenty five grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is much loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held 11:15am until the Funeral Service to begin at 12:15pm Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Fr. Pat Foley officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Scott R. Head, Joseph A. Bonelli, Edmund K. Fogg IV, David R. Fogg, Patrick H. Head, Bryan T. Head, Vito V. Bonelli, Nathan C. Head, Roman C. Bonelli, Jay Michael Head, Michael D. Pooler, Dominic R. Bonelli, Ricco T. Bonelli, Brayden R.
