Ronald Milton McDowell, 71, of Niceville, FL passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022.
Ronnie loved his Family - Friends - Country and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He graduated from Treadwell High School in 1968, where he received the honor as the All-Memphis Baseball Short Stop. He attended the University of Memphis in 1968 on a Baseball scholarship. He enlisted in the United States Air Force National Guard in 1969 during the Vietnam War. He was a licensed General Contractor in Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida, and Owner of USA Rail Car Services. He married to his High School sweetheart, Carla Kemp. They were married for 52 years, and blessed with 3 children, 3 children-in-Love and 5 grandchildren. He was known to them as "Daddy Mac", all were the loves of his life and his most important ministry. He enjoyed playing baseball - scouting for the St Louis Cardinals and coaching baseball for youth teams such as the River City Angels, Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis Tigers and most recently the East Coast Sox alongside his son. This was a ministry to not only teach the skills of baseball but to prepare them for skills of a lifetime as he shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
He is preceded in death by father, Joseph of Memphis, TN; brother, Ricky of Memphis, TN; and nephew, Jody of Destin, FL.
Survivors include his wife, Carla, of Niceville, FL; son, Brent and wife Christy; grandsons, Austin and Aaron all of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; son, Brad and wife, Jenny; grandsons, Ross and Reed all of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; daughter, Robyn McDowell Coley and husband, Josh; granddaughter, Brooklyn of Miramar Beach, FL; mother, Shirley Lowery and husband, Sam of Olive Branch, MS; brother, Rusty and wife, Lisa of Destin, FL; nephew, Jason and wife, Missy, and their son and daughter, Jackson and Emma of Knoxville, TN.
Funeral Service begin at 1:00pm Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Village Baptist Church, 101 Matthew Blvd., Destin, FL 32541. Burial will follow at the Historic Gulf Cemetery
