Neal Yeakle

Ronald "Ron" Neal Yeakle, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
Ron was born in Baltimore, MD on May 3, 1923 to H. Elmer and Mildred Ellerbrock Yeakle. After graduating high school in Baltimore, MD he attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA where he played Lacrosse. After Drexel University, he was drafted into the US Army Air Corps where he flew a B-24 Bomber in WWII. He ultimately ended up as a Prisoner of War for 14 months, with 5 of those months spent in solitary confinement. After Liberation, he attended and graduated from Georgia Tech University, where he received a BS degree in engineering. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he worked in the piping industry. In 1969, he co-founded Piping & Equipment where he worked until his retirement.
He served on the Board of Directors of West Florida Hospital. Ron also proudly served on various boards including: Ellyson Industrial Park, the Alzheimer's Family Services Group, and the Pensacola Chamber Board. He served on the Committee of 100 for the State of Florida and was a member of the Navy League of Pensacola, FL. Ron was Past-President and member of the Pensacola Country Club. He was honored with being Fiesta DeLuna in 1997. Ron was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Robert Kenneth Yeakle.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dot Jane; his daughters, Priscilla Carroll and Suzanne O'Meara (John); his 5 grandchildren, Sam Carroll IV (Kacy), Ron Carroll (Anna), Neal Carroll (Anne Turner), Rebecca Sims (Lee) and Patrick O'Meara; as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Bentley, Sam V, Luke, Davis, Grey Carroll, Harrison and Liza Sims.
Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm Friday, February 17, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, Pensacola with Dr. Wesley Wachob and Dr. Henry Roberts officiating. A reception will follow in the Perry Home.
