Obituary

Rose Mary Marcanio, 93, of Pensacola died on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Mrs. Marcanio was born on June 2, 1917 in Rochester, NY and she had seven brothers and two sisters. She was married to her husband Dominic for 53 years, and they had two children that she loved very much. In 1982, she moved to Pensacola where she became a member of the St. Paul Womens Society and the Rosary Society. Mrs. Marcanio went to Rome and the Holy Land with Fr. Joseph Callipare. As a young girl she danced with her two brothers Al and Pat who later went on to be famous dancers and teachers. We can hear them tapping in heaven. RIP my darling mother. Mrs. Marcanio was preceded in death by her husband Dominic; son, Russell and her son-in-law Richard Williams. Survivors include her loving daughter, Rose Ann and son-in-law Robert Wahl; two brothers, Sy Zicari of Rochester, NY and Jim Zicari of Las Vegas, NV; as well as many other family members. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:00pm followed by a visitation until 7:00pm Friday, June 3, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Doug Halsema celebrant. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Robert Wahl, Mike Niesen, Steve Niesen, Jim Marshall, Ron Johnson, Will Diamond and Gene Bridges. Honorary Pallbearers will be grand and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, Alfred Washburn Center, 31 Murphy Lane, Pensacola, FL 32505. The family would like to express a special thanks to Fr. Doug Halsema, Fr. Mike Nixon, Dorothy Marshall and Jewell Niesen for their visits everyday to Rose. Also to the staff at Laurelwood ALF, the nurses and staff at Emerald Gardens ALF, as well as Emerald Coast Hospice and their wonderful nurses. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
