IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose Anne
Novak
January 1, 1920 – September 11, 2016
After 96 years, 8 months, 11 days, Rose Anne died peacefully in the small hours of Sunday, 11 September, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, Florida.
Rose Anne was born in Chicago, Illinois to Polish immigrant parents, the sixth of seven children, in the same year American Women were granted the right to vote. She came of age during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Her marriage to Stanley Joseph Novak (2 August, 1941), on the eve of WWII, eventually produced three children: Barbara Lynn, William Stanley and Lucille Marie.
Barbara (Novak) Krueger came forth with three grandchildren: Dale Allen, Jeffrey Scott and John Paul. Jeffrey Krueger fathered three great grandchildren: Kendra Daniel, Sarah Danae and Christopher and brought a step-grandchild Nadiya Yerich into the family. Of Kendra (Krueger) Apodaca has been born a great great granddaughter Hadassah Jane.
Due to the economic disruptions entailed by the Great Depression, both Rose Anne Duda and (future husband) Stanley Novak were unable to complete their high school education in the normal course. However, in 1963 they proudly earned their high school equivalency certificates just as their son, William entered college. Rose Anne continued to earn credits toward an Associate-of-Arts degree at a local community college in Chicago.
Rose Anne Novak, a housewife and Stanley Joseph Novak, a retired steelworker moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1980. Stanley passed away within seven months of their arrival. Widowed, Rose Anne continued on as a member of St. Paul Catholic Parish. She continued her training in the arts at Pensacola Junior College and pursued painting and drawing as a hobby. Having for many years practiced yoga to mitigate arthritic back pain, she taught classes in yoga on a voluntary basis.
Rose Anne (Duda) Novak is preceded in death by her many contemporary friends in Pensacola as well as by her husband, Stanley, her daughter Lucille (Novak) Neary and all of her siblings and siblings-in-law.
She was the last Duda family matriarch of her generation.
