Roy Wayne Smith, Jr., 82, of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011. He was born on December 6, 1929 in Raleigh, NC to Hon. Gen. Roy W. Smith, Sr. and Bonner Miles Smith. Roy graduated from Fishburne Military School, North Carolina State University and Harvard Business School. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Roy was a Senior Executive with Exxon-Mobile Corp for over 30 years, with 20 of those in the Far East. After retiring to Pensacola 25 years ago he began a second career with the College of Business at the University of West Florida. He was an active member in the Pensacola community, serving on the Board of Baptist Hospital for 15 years, member of the Board of Trustees with UWF, with the Board of the Pensacola Symphony and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. He led a remarkable life and has friends all over the world that will miss his charismatic and energetic personality. He was an amazing and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family. Roy was truly a gentlemans gentleman. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Susan Shepherd Smith; son, R. Wayne Smith, III (Carla); daughter, Paige M. Yauger (Skip ); 3 beloved grandchildren, Conner C. Smith, Keller M. Smith and Madison S. Yauger. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. C. Neal Goldsborough officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the Parish Hall. Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 30, 2011 at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors.
