Ruby Jane Brown, 73, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 after a very brief illness, surrounded by her loved ones. Ruby was born in Independence, Virginia on March 14, 1941. She attended Roanoke Memorial Hospital Professional School of Nursing in Roanoke, Virginia where she became an R.N. Ruby was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. She served her country as a registered nurse, earning the rank of Captain before being honorably discharged to start a family. She met her husband of 51 years, Stacy O. Brown, Jr., while serving her country. Together they had two sons, David Brown of Atlanta, Georgia and Jeffrey (Jaime) Brown of Pensacola, Florida. She is also survived by two grandsons, Marcus and Alex, grand doggy, Ozzy and many wonderful friends. After leaving the Air Force and starting a family, Ruby returned to her first love, nursing. She enjoyed helping people and bringing new life into the world. Ruby loved to be surrounded by her family. She enjoyed traveling and learning and always had a fun fact or trivia to share. Ruby was famous for her love for FSU football and almost always wore something representing her favorite team. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, amazing mother in law and a great friend. She would tell you exactly what was on her mind and was always honest and fair. She loved Willie Nelson, a good glass of Merlot and Jesus and she will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, January 20, 2015 with Memorial services beginning at 12:30pm from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Inurnment services will follow at 2pm at Barrancas National Cemetery with Air Force military honors.
