Ruth Gonzalez Cary, 99, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at her home in Old Bohemia. She was born on February 9, 1917 to Dickson Bartholomew Gonzalez and Ruth Withnell Gonzalez and was descended from one of the early Pensacola families. She graduated from Pensacola High School.

She was a founding member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and of the Walachas club. She was also a member of the Pensacola Junior League and the Saint Augustine Church Circle as well as the Mardi Gras Krewe's, the Merry Makers and Harlequins.

Mrs. Cary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hall Cary; 3 sisters, Cecile Gonzalez Malone, Margaret Gonzalez Miller and Genevieve Gonzalez.

She is survived by one sister, Martha Gonzalez Quina and her brother, Dickson Gonzalez Jr. as well as her son, John Cary and his 3 sons, Patrick, Stephen and Robert; a daughter, Sally Cary and her 3 children, Withnell Collins (Michael), Henry Cary (Jill) and Mary Cary and 1 great grandchild, Elizabeth Lee Collins. She has many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Saturday, October 1, 2016 with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 2pm at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd. in Pensacola with Fr. Doug Halsema, celebrant. Burial follows at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Cary, Stephen Cary, Robert Cary, Henry Cary and Michael Collins.
